Screen Printing

Little Miss Emmalee is wearing her Wooooo Pig Soooie onesie.  These are so easy to make and sell for much more than the cost of a onesie in retail stores.   My son got me started with screen printing, having graduated from KU and being a BIG Jayhawk fan, he wanted KU wear for my grandson.  Emmalee's mom, my neighbor is the owner of my dog, Sadie's best friend Mattie.  Emmalee, was born one month after my grandson and comes from a long line of Razorbacks. I had to make her a wooooooo pig onesie.  She is so cute above in her onesie.

Screen printing requires very little equipment; ink, a squeegee, and the screen.  My favorite craft store in Kansas City Urban Arts and Crafts made my screens.  I fit two different designs on one 8X10 screen.  They frame it and it is all ready to use.  My little bottle of ink   has now made many shirts.  In addition to direction from Urban, I watch a video on youtube to learn exactly what to do.  I practiced on cardboard and paper first.  I admit I messed up a couple on onesies to begin with but now am very good.  Now I need to get more detailed with designs but have had fun with it.  Youtube also shows how to burn screens and that looks quite simple.

On a different thought - is winter ever going to end.  They are predicting a possiblity of lots of snow here on Sunday.  We have had lots.  I admit not as much as the North East.  But still.....

Grandson and St Louis

I had a wonderful weekend with my son and his family, especially my grandson, E.  I have to say I have a great son and a great daugher in law.  And then there is my grandson who is fabulous!!!  He loves, loves, loves his toes, baths, mom, dad, Newton, Stewdog and his jumperoo.  He is such a happy fellow.

Even though he is outgrowing the kitchen sink he loves his bath and has a great time

His parents went out for the afternoon and left me to spend quality time with little E.  He enjoyed me so much he only took a 30 minute nap.  He wanted to be with grandma : )  We read and he played in his jumperoo.

I feed him cereal and sweet potatoes what a combination

My son played tennis in high school and college.  He still plays but back then he had to have all these Nike tennis shirts with the tennis court nike swoosh.  One shirt he didn't wear much and was in such good shape I never gave it to goodwill.  Well I found a use for it.  I made it into a T shirt for my grandson

I cut this right off the original T at the stripe to include the swoosh

I started another T shirt for E, but had trouble with the Iron on Fusion.  I think I used too high of heat.  Here is a glimpse of what I am doing

I want to close with my E loving his toes

Have I said how much I love being a grandmother!!!!

Getting ready to see my grandson

I will leave to see my grandson, E, on Friday.  He lives 4 hours away.  So this weekend I had to make him something.  I have been into repurposing fabric lately.  I cannot tell my latest creation until next weekend.  It is nothing spectacular but my son will like it.  I hope to get one more thing done by Friday.  I will post pictures next weekend.

Last year I lost 45 pounds and the holidays brought out my sweet tooth again and I have been gaining weight again and I will not gain all that weight back.  I bought a Wii gaming system this weekend and have been following the AE Active Personal Trainer.  I don't want to diet for the rest of my life.  Walking the dog was not burning enough calories.  Well Sadie does stop and sniff a bit, so I do stop and go walking and even though  I do walk a few miles a day it is not enough.  Anyhow I am a bit sore after two days into my 30 day challenge.

Here is a picture of Sadie in the snow that fell over the holidays.
